The Universities of Kiel, Kocaeli and Bratislava are offering an international summer school on archaeological prospecting with geophysical methods. The field course will be held in the surroundings of the small town of Albersdorf, Northern Germany, close to the North Sea.

The course comprises an introduction to the local archaeological and historic situation, lectures, practical field work with state-of-the art geophysical instruments (geomagnetics, geoelectrics, ground penetrating radar, micro-gravimetry), digital data processing and interpretation techniques. Besides education in modern technology the course aims at fostering the mutual understanding of arts and science disciplines and cultures.
The summer school is mainly directed to students of geophysics and archaeology. The number of student participants is restricted to 30 in total. The participation of five students of geophysics and five students of archaeology from each university will be funded. In case of more applications a ranking will be performed on the basis of study experience, motivation, and geophysical background (see application form). In case of equal assessments applicants will be chosen by lot.
