Basin '96

DEKORP(DEutsches KOntinentales Reflexionsseismisches Programm)

The recent studies of DEKORP are focussing on the crustal structure of the Northeastern German Basin. The target of the 1996 seismic experiments is the imaging of the geodynamic evolution of this basin and the understanding of processes leading to basin-structures.

In April 1996 several seismic profiles were shot in the eastern and southern Baltic Sea in cooperation with the GeoForschungsZentrum Potsdam (GFZ), the Bundesanstalt für Geowissenschaften und Rohstoffe Hannover (BGR), and the Geophysical Institutes of the Universities of Copenhagen and Uppsala . In addition the wide-angle data was observed at land-based stations (Baltic-Sea-Experiment).
In fall 1996 two perpendicular land-seismic profiles between the island of Rügen and the Harz mountains were investigated in cooperation with the GeoForschungsZentrum Potsdam (GFZ) and the geophysical Institute of the University of Munich. Again seismic data was recorded from normal incidence as well as wide-angle oberservations (Land-Seismic-Experiment).

An overview of the profiles of both experiments is given in figure 1. Figure 2 covers the topography of the area.

Additional general information and additional information on integrated studies concerning the North German Basin project are provided at the GFZ in Potsdam.

It is possible to copy almost all of the poster (part 1 and part 2) presented at the DEKORP-meeting in November 1997 in Potsdam (paper-size each 21x29.6 cm!). It's only in German, sorry. Both parts are ziped postscript-files (use gzip -d *.gz to make readable). Their size is about 11 MByte, copying might thus take a while. A preview is available. Just click on each of the pictures underneath.
